James is a tracker – the hunt is his obsession. He is quick and strong and very intelligent. He is sadistic and he enjoys playing with his food and causing others to suffer. He doesn’t what it takes and once he wants something, there is nothing that can stop him. He is skilled in tracking the movements of his prey, usually human and usually female, and he finds a thrill is pain and in the chase itself. Things come easily to him and he craves a constant challenge. He is also skilled in manipulation and he enjoys toying with people. It’s all part of the fun. His gift is his ability to track and his capacity for causing pain and enacting mental torture.

{. appearance .}
height: 6’2
weight: 150 pounds
hair: dirty blond
eyes: red
general appearance:
At 6’2, James is muscular, panther like and imposing. He is more feral and wild them the Cullen’s – he is in touch with is base instinct more then they are and so he functions better during the hunt or out in the wild. He dresses as a human but even his clothes are more animal then human – leather and metal and rough textures. His hair is dirty blond and it falls to his shoulder. He wears it back for the sake of keeping it out of his face. His eyes are dark with almost shard like bursts of red, and they seem almost out of place on his snow white face. His face, almost always smudged with dirt, may have been beautiful once. It’s more animal now then human and it is a sharp, dangerous, beauty. His face is the face of a predator and even the way he smiles makes you think of words like killer. His bone structure is sharp and defined and his body is no different. He is built like an animal, a perfect machine with muscles and fast instincts. He runs without shoes and his feet are rough and calloused. Nothing hurts his feet anyway and even the nails on his toes are claw like. His hands are long and slender, ending his sharp daggers that have found joy in ripping flesh so many times before and the way he moves is haunting. You may think the Cullen’s are out of practice when and if you see James. He has never had to curb his vampire abilities or lessen his impulses and so he is more vampire then they are. Like I said, he is a machine, more animal, more feral, more beast then man.

personality:
Obsession: Obsessive is a good word to describe James, here. He finds something he wants and it become the focal point of his world. A human doesn’t stand a chance one he decides he wants them. The fact is, however, it isn’t only the kill that James obsesses over. He obsessive over the person – he gets into their head, finds what makes them tick, and slowly breaks them down by way of mind games and fear. He is obsessed with control, with causing pain, and with breaking people.
Sadistic: Along with his obsession with pain and causing others to suffer, he finds joy in it. To him, it’s a rush, a thrill. To play god, to decide if someone lives or dies, to see the fear and hear them beg and plead – he kind of gets off on it. He loves to be in control and know that he can cause pain or pleasure and that he is the one who decides how a life ends.
Twisted/Morbid: James is capable of coming across as very sweet and intriguing. He is charismatic and he knows how to charm people despite his feral appearance and dangerous demeanor. It isn’t enough to physically hurt people, but he has to emotionally and mentally break them as well. He won’t allow someone to die so easily – it’s an easy death in his eyes if their very soul isn’t broken.

father: unknown

other family: alice
history:
James was born to a poor family in Pre-Industrial England. His childhood consisted of disease and starvation. He had three sisters and a younger brother, who died when he was only 24 months old. James was the eldest child and therefore expected to do the most. He was whipped when he didn’t do things right or well enough and he often took the blame for his sisters. James wasn’t always a sadistic asshole. Once, he was human and he felt human things. Years of poverty took their toll and it only got worse when his father died and he was put in charge of being the head of the family. He found work in one of the larger cities and he would leave the home for weeks at a time, returning with food and other goods. While working in the city, he met and fell in love with a woman named Selene. She wanted nothing to do with him. Despite his every attempt to prove he was more then a poor man, she looked down at him. He didn’t let it deter him though, and there were times when she was kind because it was the lady like thing to do. I suppose he fooled himself into thinking good breeding was infatuation – that perhaps she finally returned his feelings. Other men, rich men, treated her like dirt and after a few times, she allowed herself to be comforted by him. She began to turn to him when she needed a shoulder to cry on and even if she never admitted it to James, she did come to feel for him. What began as a lonely woman in need of someone to hold her turned into a hidden romance.
She told no one about James, and the only thing she did to show how she felt about him was convincing her father to let him live at their home and work for them. James didn’t care if she was ashamed, he didn’t care what anyone thought – for him it was enough that finally, she saw him. He was completely devoted to her and he did all that she asked. He worshipped her, even when, while in front of her parents, she treated him like a servant and nothing more. He loved her and he wanted to badly to believe she loved him. Maybe some part of her did but in a world where who you married was more important then who you loved, it couldn’t last. He gave her all that he had, his heart, his soul and for almost two years, they met in secret and loved each other. Then, she stopped. She stopped seeing him, stopped speaking to him, stopped acknowledging he was alive. She began to treat him as she would have treated any servant. He was beneath her and it forced him back to reality. Whatever those secrets meeting had meant, the stolen kisses, the promises – they meant nothing now. Not in the real world. He was forced to see it for what it was. A lie. She got married sometime after and it broke his heart. He returned to his village where his sisters still lived and where his mother was buried. He was nineteen years old. He packed up and told his sisters he was leaving – the new world, America.
They didn’t understand and feared leaving the place they had always known and so he left them some money for food and for the animals and he left on his own. Thoughts of Selene drove him into a deeper and deeper depression. At some point, maybe on the long, dirty boat ride across the sea, he stopped caring. The passengers were packed in like sardines and every day more dead bodies were tossed out to sea. Death had frightened him one, repulsed him, but now he wished for it. What was there left? His whole world had betrayed him, his light had found love with another and he was alone. Alone and sick and poor and very much ready to die. He arrived in New England a very different man. Instead of compassionate and loving, James had become a shadow of his former self, a hollow, cold, numb thing. He worked until his bones were sore and indulged in woman and booze. The woman he treated horribly – the often left bloodied or bruised. But why, he thought, did they deserve tenderness? Why did they deserve softness and love? He was paying them, wasn’t he? They were sleepers, stupid, useless woman. Angry at the world, perpetually drunk and more and more violent with each passing day, James became something cruel and cold and angry. He was poor and any money he had was spent on booze.
He was always getting into fights and ending up in the gutter, bruised and beaten. At the age of 25, he met a woman. A wild woman, so beautiful and dangerous, he thought at first she was a dream. And she promised to love him forever and to never leave him. He believed her. Her name was Victoria and she bit him, watching in delight as he screamed and writhed on the dirty ground. Three days later he awoke, feral and thirsty but not for booze. He wanted blood. He considered her is red haired angel, his wild woman, his soul. She had saved him from his pathetic human existence and true to her word she didn’t leave. They played all sorts of games, and spilled all sorts of blood. They killed and feasted and caused destruction and love every moment of it. His first obsession, aside from the hunt and the lust for blood, was named Mary Alice. So fragile, so beautiful, so insane – she looked like his Selene. He watched her, patiently, waiting. He waited for years as Mary was broken down. Too many years for Victorias liking, and she was terribly pleased when someone else turned the stupid girl. James has never lost another of his prey, only her. Upon reaching Forks he found the newest thrill in hunting Bella, who held such power over the Cullens. He never intended to turn her, just to kill her, but he was… interrupted. All the same, he won and he got her and he still loves to see her and those crimson eyes, knowing he made her.
